Injuries: Attacking trio nearing returns (London Standard)

Chelsea hope their injury woes are significantly easing as the international break nears an end.

There remain concerns over Cole Palmer’s fitness after the Blues star missed the loss to Arsenal and then sat out England duty. He has been sent for further scans.

Attacking trio Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Marc Guiu are all nearing returns after a number of weeks on the sidelines.x

With that in mind, here is the latest Chelsea injury news and return dates…

Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer has had to sit out Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad due to injury. He was left out of the Chelsea squad entirely for their 1-0 Premier League defeat by London rivals Arsenal before the international break due to a muscular complaint suffered in training on the eve of the game.

Enzo Maresca did not expect the 22-year-old to link up with England, believing that he would benefit from “rest physically and mentally”, and Tuchel confirmed before England’s win over Albania that Palmer would remain with Chelsea.

“Cole will not be with us,” Tuchel said. “We waited a while for feedback. But he is not on the pitch and it makes no sense to call him up now.”

Palmer has been sent for a second scan on the injury but Chelsea are believed to still be optimistic over a swift return to the pitch for their talisman.

Nicolas Jackson

Nicolas Jackson has been sidelined since February after picking up a hamstring injury against West Ham.

Maresca was initially hopeful that Jackson would return relatively quickly, but scans showed a more severe damage.

The Blues boss said in Febuary: “Unfortunately he had a scan a few days ago and it is an important one, it will be around six to eight weeks.”

Chelsea have struggled in action in his absence, but it will not be too much longer until the striker can return to action given that initial timeline.

Potential return date: Mid-April 2025

Noni Madueke

Noni Madueke is another nearing a return, having suffered a hamstring in the 3-0 defeat at Brighton in February.

Maresca has since ruled the forward out ” until the international break”, suggesting Madueke could return to action early in April.

Potential return date: Early April 2025

Marc Guiu

The young striker has been ruled out since early February with a hamstring injury, also picked up against West Ham.

Speaking at the time, Maresca said: “It doesn’t look a short injury, it looks a long injury. Exactly how long, we don’t know. Probably weeks or months.”

Around six weeks later and Giui is approaching at return, with it hoped he will return during April.

Potential return date: Mid-April 2025
