Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has chosen former navy commander Eli Sharvit to take the top job as the country’s new security chief, his office said Monday, replacing Ronen Bar who was ousted by the prime minister due to an “ongoing lack of trust” following the October 7 Hamas attacks.
