Jack Black surprises Tanner from ‘Love On The Spectrum’ in heartwarming moment
There’s joy, and then there is Tanner Smith-level joy.
The star of Netflix’s “Love on the Spectrum” recently appeared on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” where his trademark enthusiasm skyrocketed to new heights when he received a surprise from his lifelong idol.
During the talk show, Smith sat down with host Kelly Clarkson to talk about the series’ third season, which is currently available to stream on the platform. After discussing his recent dates on the reality series, Clarkson reminded Smith of his previous appearance on her show, during which he received a special video message from Jack Black.
Building on this memory, Clarkson discussed Smith’s ongoing dream to meet Black in person.
“I want to be 31 when I meet him,” Smith said.
“We asked Jack if he could make another video for you,” Clarkson added.
Black then appeared on the screen with a big smile and greeted Smith.
“What’s up, Tanner? Jack Black, here,” the actor said in the clip. “I still cannot wait to meet you in person, but I’m on the road with ‘A Minecraft Movie’ right now. But luckily, I have insane ninja, kung fu powers, which means I can come through these doors and I’m gonna see you right now when I come through these doors! Tanner, I’m here right now!”
Black then burst through the doors and ran towards the stage. Smith sprang onto his feet, rushed towards the actor and gave him a big embrace.
“Jack, it’s you! Jack, I’m so excited to meet you! Jack! Jack! I’m so glad I finally get to meet you!” Smith, filled with enthusiasm, said at lightning speed to Black as they interacted face-to-face for the first time. “Jack, I’m so happy to meet you! Jack, I’m your biggest fan ‘cause you’re a great actor and a great singer. So I’m happy to finally meet you!”
Later, seated on the couch, Smith continued to enthusiastically shower Black with praise.
“You’re so handsome. You’re looking good, Jack,” Smith continued. “And Jack, you’re a great actor, just like me, and you’re very strong too.”
“I am? You know what, I do work out a little bit now,” Black replied. “We should do some weightlifting together. You could teach me some tips.”
“Yes, sir!” Smith quickly responded. “Guess what, I’m gonna get your phone number and we can work out together!”
The honest response made Black burst into laughter. “This is happening!” he replied.
As Smith’s excitement continued, Black remarked, “I gotta take off my glasses. My glasses are steaming up,” before turning to Smith warmly. “Hey, I love you on the show, and I can’t wait for the next season. I’m so happy for you having all of this success and (wonderful) time in your life. And to meet you in person is really amazing for me too.”
“Yeah, Jack,” Smith replied. “It’s really amazing for me too.”
Smith then turned to Clarkson with a beaming smile.
“Thank you so much, Miss Kelly. Miss Kelly, thank you so much!” he said. “This is the best day of my life.”
