Now We Know More About the Death of Former US Attorney Jessica Aber in Virginia
As we previously wrote, Alexandria, Virginia, law enforcement officials were called to the home of former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica Aber on Saturday morning after being alerted to the presence of an unresponsive woman there.
Police arrived at the scene just after 9 a.m. EDT, and confirmed that the woman was the former federal prosecutor. As I wrote, Aber held that position until President Donald Trump resumed office:
Nominated to the U.S. Attorney post by former President Joe Biden in Aug. 2021, Jessica Aber resigned in January, at the start of President Trump’s second term, to create a vacancy.

On Tuesday evening, authorities provided an update on the situation, stating that Aber, who was 43 years old, likely died of natural causes:
Former US Attorney Jessica Aber, who was found dead Saturday morning in her Virginia home, appeared to have succumbed to natural causes, according to authorities.
“At this time, detectives have found no evidence suggesting that her death was caused by anything other than natural causes,” Alexandria police said in an update Tuesday evening.
The body of the 43-year-old lawyer….was found around 9:20 a.m. by police…
The police statement continued, addressing Aber’s cause and manner of death:
“The investigation is ongoing, and the case will remain open until the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) returns a final ruling on the cause and manner of death.”
It’s common for police officials to defer the final decision on the cause and manner of death to the local medical examiner’s/coroner’s office, as we saw in the tragic, albeit natural deaths of both Gene Hackman and his wife in late February:
