Sam Thompson admits split from Zara McDermott has been ‘tough’ in first remarks

Sam Thompson has admitted his split from Zara McDermott has been ‘tough’.
The 32-year-old Made In Chelsea star split from his fellow reality star, 28, over the Christmas period, and he has finally opened up about their breakup for the first time.
He was chatting to best friend Pete Wicks on their joint Staying Relevant podcast when his pal asked ‘what’s been going on?’
Referencing the split, Sam admitted: ‘It was tough. It’s been a tough month. A real tough month.’
After five years together, the pair reportedly called it quits in December, which allegedly came as the result of a difficult year as they both focusing on individual projects.
While Zara has been busy working on documentaries, Sam had spent a significant amount of time in Australia for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’s spin-off show, Unpacked.

Although Sam wrote that Zara was ‘stuck with me forever’ on December 14, reports emerged that it was all over on New Year’s Day.
Neither Zara or Sam had addressed the rumours of their break-up before now, but have instead used their social media to update fans on their work projects.
For Zara, she will be back in front of the camera for an upcoming BBC Three documentary, as she recently wrote: ‘First day back at work, doing what I love & am so grateful for.’
She’s previously done episodes on subjects Ibiza, revenge porn, and disordered eating.

Meanwhile, last week it was reported that when they were still happily committed to each other, the former flames filmed together for Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.
The pair reportedly took part in the Midnight Gameshow segment on the BBC One show, which sees the host burst into celebrities’ homes in the middle of the night to ask a series of bonkers questions.

‘Now they’ve broken up it’s going to be rather awkward if the BBC chooses to air it,’ a source told The Sun, adding that the pair ‘enjoyed it so they are not kicking up a stink’.
‘But it is rather embarrassing to think they’re going to have to watch themselves back on telly when they were still together,’ the insider said.
However, filming the humorous skit was a joyous experience for them both, and so in some ways they would also see it as a shame for it to never be seen. With the new series starting imminently, they may not have a choice but to keep it in anyway as cutting it would be a ‘nightmare’.
